Don’t expect Delores to ride off into the sunset for good anytime soon as HBO has renewed Westworld for Season 3.
The renewal came just two days after the second of ten Season 2 episodes premiered on Sunday night. HBO was presumably closely watching for a drop-off following the Season 2 premiere and the numbers they saw were strong enough to move forward with another round of 10 new episodes.
Of course when Westworld Season 3 will premiere is anyone’s best guess at this point. It took 18 months for executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy to create and produce the second season following the first. They have both gone on record as saying it takes extra time to craft Westworld’s complex narratives so a year turnaround time for a new season is simply not possible.
If we assume another 18-month production time frame then the Westworld Season 3 release date will fall around October 2019.
