A calm before the storm is expected in tonight’s new episode of AMC’s The Walking Dead titled simply, ‘Heads Up.’ It’s the penultimate episode before the midseason finale where you just know all kinds of craziness is expected to transpire. Last week’s episode continued the Season 6 theme of fractured episodic storytelling that focused on individuals or small groups. Specifically the episode followed Daryl, Sasha and Abraham as they continued to lead most of the walker herd away from Alexandria along a predetermined route.
As the episode got underway the threesome was ambushed and separated. Daryl ended up in the woods while Abraham and Sasha holed up in a small town. Daryl ended up getting a lot more action; however, Abraham wanted a different kind of action from his female companion.
By episode’s end we had gotten a glimpse of yet another group that seemed to operate in a similar manner to Rick’s. We also met a young couple under the influence of the group who stole Daryl’s bike and crossbow. They’ll surely regret that.
Tonight’s episode will likely reveal the fate of Glenn after he and Nicolas were cornered in ‘Thank You.’ I feel confident that ‘Heads Up’ refers to Glenn’s predicament and there will be closure as we set up for the midseason finale.
The official synopsis for tonight’s new The Walking Dead episode reads, “Alexandria is finally able to begin pulling itself back together; peace is embraced between the two groups.”
