AMC’s The Walking Dead Season 4 continues its fractured second half tonight by visiting two of the surviving groups in the latest new episode of the current season, number 313, ‘Alone.’ Spoilers are present for the previous episode from here forward. Last week’s The Walking Dead episode ‘Still’ was a first for the franchise as it spend its entirety with only two characters, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney). There were zombies, of course, but no other survivors appeared on screen.
The episode served as a “get to know you” for both Daryl and Beth. In Beth’s case, she was getting tired of wandering around with no purpose and decided that before she potentially dies, she wants to experience her first adult beverage. Daryl doesn’t agree, but he ends up following her when she goes off without him.
Beth gets that drink in the form of moonshine at a cabin after a violent stop at a country club where a few zombies had to be disposed of. She ends up being very composed while intoxicated, however her protector, Daryl, breaks down and lets all the emotions he’s bottled up get out. They ultimately burn down the cabin in a symbolic gesture of leaving the past behind.
The synopsis for tonight’s episode reads, “Maggie, Sasha and Bob struggle with the shortage of supplies. Daryl and Beth find apparent safety in a seemingly abandoned church.” With only four episodes left until the season finale including tonight’s, expect the excitement and terror to start ramping up in a hurry.
