Disney has announced that Star Wars: Spark of the Rebellion, the one-hour pilot episode for Star Wars Rebels, will premiere this Friday, September 26 exclusively via Watch Disney XD applications for verified users. This means that anyone who is registered through Watch Disney XD will get to watch Star Wars: Spark of the Rebellion online free live streaming via WATCHDisneyXD.com and the WATCH Disney XD app for smartphones, tablets and connected TVs.
The original date for this early look at Star Wars Rebels via Watch Disney XD was September 29. With the date moved up three days, the exclusive window to watch the Star Wars Rebels: Spark of the Rebellion premiere is a full seven days.
The Star Wars Rebels premiere date on TV remains Friday, October 3 at 9/8c on Disney Channel. Additional episodes will then shift to Disney XD beginning Monday, October 13 at 9/8c.
Set approximately five years prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, Star Wars Rebels follows a band of freedom fighters that are rising up to battle against the oppressive Empire. It is rumored that some new characters or other details introduced in Star Wars Rebels may be connected to Star Wars: Episode VII from director J.J. Abrams.
