Early Saturday the Childish Gambino i.e. Donald Glover and Hiro Murai film project Guava Island featuring Rihanna, Glover, Letitia Wright and Nonso Anozie premiered at Coachella. The project’s details were secretive until recently and now everyone has a chance to watch it.
If you weren’t at Coachella 2019 or watching the live Coachella stream online then don’t worry about missing out. Amazon stepped up and grabbed the streaming rights to Guava Island and immediately made it available online exclusively for Amazon Prime members.

Guava Island Preview
Donald Glover has had fun teasing Guava Island for quite some time. Only recently did he reveal it features Rihanna alongside himself, is set on Cuba, and is 55 minutes in length.
Guava Island is written by Stephen Glover, Donald’s brother. It’s billed as a ‘a Childish Gambino film’ and could potentially mark the retirement of the Childish Gambino song artist that Donald has assumed over the years.
The film’s message about being free is built around the practices of Red, the richest man on the island who uses his money and influence to control those under him.
Donald’s character Deni finds himself at odds with Red about performing his job as a radio DJ or performing a concert he’s promised the people. A kidnapping befitting of ‘This is America’ later and Deni is confronted with making the ultimate choice of defiance.
