Tonight AMC will debut the Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul immediately following some other show you may have heard of starring decaying zombies and a guy with a dirty beard. We have missed the world of Breaking Bad and finally it will be open for illegal business again when we watch Better Call Saul online streaming tonight, including free though not live at the official AMC website after it first airs on AMC cable TV.
Better Call Saul is set approximately five years prior to the events of Breaking Bad and follows the career of attorney Saul Goodman, though at the time of the show he’s known as Jimmy McGill. What made Jimmy change his name to Saul? That’s one of many mysteries that Better Call Saul will set out to answer.
In addition to Bob Odenkirk reprising the role of Saul, the show also brings back “fixer” Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) as a series regular and will pick up around the time that Mike and Saul err Jimmy meet for the first time under slightly adversarial conditions.
Virtually all the Breaking Bad characters are game for Better Call Saul cameos so keep your eyes peeled. You never know who might pop up.
Breaking Bad showrunners Vince Gilligan and writer/producer Peter Gould are back for Better Call Saul, though warn this new series will not be a clone of Breaking Bad. At times the look, feel and vibe will be similar, though the hope is that BCS treads new ground and opens up much more of the fascinating world that Gilligan conjured up for Breaking Bad.
AMC is using tonight’s The Walking Dead Season 5 midseason premiere to lead into the Better Call Saul series premiere with a start time of 10/9c on AMC. Note that Better Call Saul moves into its regular time slot tomorrow night, Monday, at 10/9c, and tonight’s post-Walking Dead episode is not the norm.
AMC will offer free online streaming versions of every Better Call Saul shortly after they first premiere on TV at the official AMC website, usually the following day, for a very limited time.
