FX’s American Horror Story: Freak Show continues tonight with the all-new episode ‘Edward Mordrake: Part 1,’ the first half of a two-part story that revolves around a Halloween tradition the carnies are not at all interested in breaking. Emma Roberts will finally make her Freak Show debut tonight as Maggie Esmerelda, a fortuneteller who might not be who she claims to be. One thing she will be is the apple of Jimmy’s eye, so I don’t think it will take long for Jimmy to start to put the moves on her, lobster hands and all.
Jimmy could sure use an emotional boost following the events of last week’s episode. He chose to remove the police detective’s badge from the grave and by the episode’s conclusion, it cost one of the carnies his life at the hands of a brutal beating in a jail cell. Jimmy will surely seek revenge for this heinous crime despite his own murderous action in the series premiere.
Strongman Dell Toledo (Michael Chiklis) and his triple-breasted wife, Desiree Dupree (Angela Bassett) joined the Freak Show after traveling to Florida from Chicago. They’ve come as a last resort given freak show’s are a dying breed. They also bring a lot of baggage with them including the small fact that Dell is the father of Jimmy and former lover of Ethel.
The most bizarre event of last week’s episode was Gloria finding Twisty the Clown alongside the road, bringing him home to her mansion, and giving the clown to Dandy as a play friend. The situation got even more bizarre when Dandy discovered a severed head in Twisty’s bag, took a pin upside the head as a result, then followed Twisty to his school bus lair and even helped the gnarly clown recapture the escaped children.
Here’s the official synopsis for tonight’s episode, “The Freaks refuse to perform on Halloween due to an old carny superstition. Jimmy is smitten by a woman claiming to be a fortuneteller. Ethel receives life-changing news.”
