Tonight’s 72nd Annual 2015 Golden Globes Awards show presents familiar comedians with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler taking the stage for a third consecutive turn as co-hosts and generally funny gals. The ladies will open the show with a nine-minute joke-filled intro, then the award presentations will commence. Hopefully there will be some upset winners when we watch 2014 Golden Globes online free live streaming on NBC.
In the Best Motion Picture – Drama category, The Imitation Game and Boyhood are the frontrunners. Selma seems to be getting the least amount of attention, but I wouldn’t count out Foxcatcher or The Theory of Everything for the upset.
There seems to be a lot of build up for Jennifer Aniston to win Best Actress in a Drama for her part in Cake. I wouldn’t mind Reese Witherspoon winning for Wild, either. The other nominees are Julianne Moore for Still Alice, Rosamund Pike for Gone Girl, and Felicity Jones for The Theory of Everything.
Best Actor in a Drama is a bit tougher, though I think you can bank on Benedict Cumberbatch winning for The Imitation Game if the film wins Best Picture. Going up against Cumberbatch are Eddie Redmayne for SThe Theory of Everthing, Steve Carell for Foxcatcher, David Oyelowo for Selma, and Jake Gyllenhaal for Nightcrawler.
For Best Comedy or Musical, Birdman is the film everyone is talking about and seems to have been written as a middle finger to Hollywood and toast to the media. I think Birdman has this one locked up and Michael Keaton for Best Actor in a drama with it.
Popping over to television, House of Cards and The Affair are the frontrunners for Best TV Series – Drama. The Good Wife is the dark horse, while Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey each have massive followings but are a stretch to win.
