Wakanda TV Show in Development by Ryan Coogler for Disney+

Wakanda TV Show Disney Plus

Marvel’s fictional Kingdom of Wakanda is looking more and more like it truly is “forever.”

The Walt Disney Company and Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media have entered into a five-year exclusive agreement to development a wide variety of projects for the small screen.

Some of these projects will delve into the Marvel Cinematic Universe under Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige, and the first one will naturally be set in Wakanda.

There’s no person better to expand upon Wakandan mythology than Coogler. He co-wrote the Black Panther movie with Joe Robert Cole and is currently rewriting Black Panther 2 following the untimely and unfortunate death of star Chadwick Boseman.

Disney CEO Bob Iger added in the official announcement at Marvel, “Ryan Coogler is a singular storyteller whose vision and range have made him one of the standout filmmakers of his generation. With Black Panther, Ryan brought a groundbreaking story and iconic characters to life in a real, meaningful and memorable way, creating a watershed cultural moment. We’re thrilled to strengthen our relationship and look forward to telling more great stories with Ryan and his team.”
