The HBO freshman hit and reigning king of water-cooler chatter, True Detective, concludes its freshman outing tonight with the hotly anticipated season finale ‘Form and Void.’ Update: HBO Go should be working properly after being difficult to access last night during the True Detective finale due to excessive traffic.
Tonight’s episode should bring closure to the 17-year old Yellow King case that Rustin Cohle and Marty Hart has been working for the majority of the season. The mystery of who the Yellow King is has incited endless debate at water-coolers and online forums, and tonight the big questions should be answered.
The downside to the end of the Yellow King case and the first season of True Detective is this is the final episode that will feature Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Neither are coming back for the probable, though not-yet-ordered Season 2 that will likely revolve around a new case and players.
True Detective ultimately turned into a perfect show to pass the time leading up to the next season of Game of Thrones. In fact, tonight’s season finale will be prefaced by an all-new Game of Thrones Season 4 trailer.
Here’s the short but sweet official synopsis for the True Detective season finale, “An overlooked detail provides Hart and Cohle with an important new lead in their 17-year-old case.” Let the speculation as to what that detail is commence.
Where to watch the True Detective season finale on TV should be pretty obvious as it will premiere on HBO tonight at 9/8c in high definition (HD). HBO is a pay channel so you will need to be a subscriber to tune in, though there are plenty of free trials available at various cable and satellite providers.
HBO subscribers have the option of watching True Detective online free streaming live at the official HBO Go website. To take advantage of this, please visit here and then you’ll see True Detective right on the home page.
