The Walking Dead Renewed for Season 7 by AMC

This time next year you will still be anxiously anticipating new episodes of The Walking Dead on AMC each week following today’s announcement from the cable network that the hit series has been renewed for Season 7.

Likewise The Talking Dead with host Chris Hardwick will also continue next year hot off the heels that the live post-episode talk show would also compliment Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead next summer.

AMC is employing the old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” with The Walking Dead’s next season. Scott M. Gimple and possibly his new beard will return as showrunner with Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Tom Luse continuing their executive producer duties.

Today’s big renewal announcement follows one of the most talked about episodes ever in the media and on social media, ‘Thank You.’ Glenn’s fate hanging in the balance has recharged interest in the show following a slight live ratings dip from the Season 6 premiere into the second episode. ‘Thank You’ tallied 13.1 million total viewers this past Sunday night, an eight percent rise over the previous episode.

This Sunday’s new episode, ‘He’s Not Here,’ is a special 90-minute episode, the second of this season following the supersized premiere.

Season 7 of The Walking Dead will premiere in October 2016.
