The Strain Billboards Outdoor Advertising Freaking People Out

The Strain Logo

The new FX series, The Strain, falls squarely in the horror genre and is not designed for young or timid viewers. Anyone who has ever seen an episode of FX’s American Horror Story should understand.

That hasn’t stopped FX’s marketing team from using rather disturbing key art in massive outdoor advertisements in Los Angeles, California, and New York  City, including billboards, to promote the show. These advertisements are where even young kids can see them and then likely end up having nightmares for the next month.

Buzzfeed first reported on The Strain billboards that feature a woman’s eye having some sort of worm or string being pulled through the eyeball. It’s graphic, gross, and no business being blown up to the size of a house and put in display in highly visible areas.

Complaints started to flood into FX Networks about the billboards and the network has taken action. A representative told Buzzfeed that they are “in the process of replacing the key art for The Strain on outdoor media in several locations.”

If you are offended by The Strain key art and want it removed by where you live, be sure to contact FX as they are listening and taking action.
