Netflix has announced a January 18th release date for The Punisher Season 2 starring Jon Bernthal as the emotionally scarred former soldier Frank Castle.
Billy Russo is back in Season 2 following the life-threatening injuries inflicted upon him by Castle in Season 1. As Billy damaged brain heals, he begins to remember who dealt him his trauma and aims to do something about it.
The official synopsis for The Punisher Season 2 reads:
“Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham). As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as The Punisher.”
Co-starring in The Punisher Season 2 are Ben Barnes (Billy Russo), Amber Rose Revah (Dinah Madani), Jason R. Moore (Curtis Hoyle), Josh Stewart (John Pilgrim), and Floriana Lima (Dr. Krista Dumont).
Season 2 of The Punisher is one of only two Marvel series at Netflix left standing. It is widely believed that after it airs and Jessica Jones Season 3 airs later this year, that will be it considering Daredevil, Iron Fist and Luke Cage have all been cancelled.
