‘The Mandalorian’ News: First Order Ties and New Images

The first post-D23 information about Lucasfilm’s Disney Plus+ original Star Wars series The Mandalorian came online today via Entertainment Weekly. Speaking of weeks, we are less than 10 away from the show’s debut.

In a series of posts, Entertainment Weekly revealed a pair of new images and some details shared by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

Apparently The Mandalorian will touch upon the origins of the First Order. Maybe not directly in that you’ll see the first new Stormtrooper outfits created, but the table will be set based on the aftermath of the Empire’s fall.

“You come in on Episode VII, [the First Order are] not just starting out. They’re pretty far along,” Favreau told EW. “So somehow, things weren’t necessarily managed as well as they could have been if [the galaxy] ended up in hot water again like that.”

We’ll get a sense of this through at least one character portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito’s character, Moff Gideon. He’s been left to his own devices in the Empire’s fall and could potentially spark the fire that gives birth to the First Order.

We also learn that Gina Carano’s character Cara Dune first things the Mandalorian character is taking her in for a bounty when they first meet. Instead, their relationship will “escalate” following this first encounter.

The Mandalorian premieres November 12th at Disney Plus’s launch and stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Taika Waititi, and most recently announced Ming-Na Wen.
