The Flash Will Pay Supergirl a Visit in Crossover Event on CBS

Grant Gustin gets around the DC small screen universe with ease as Barry Allen aka the Flash. While the Central City superhero has paid Star City and Arrow (Stephen Amell) many visits, he’s yet to speed his way over to National City and CBS where Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) has set up shop under executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg — the same duo behind all three of The CW’s DC Comics superhero shows.

That will all change on Monday, March 28th when a special The Flash Supergirl crossover event goes down on CBS. For reasons currently being kept tightly under wraps, The Flash will make his way to National City and presumably help Kara aka Supergirl out with a problem she can’t handle on her own.

Here’s what Berlanti and Kreisberg had to say in today’s official announcement regarding the big crossover reveal:

We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl – The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up! We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.

Supergirl’s existence or extraterrestrial life in general has yet to be referenced on either The Flash, Arrow, or DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Her revelation, and even Superman by association, should send shock waves through the other series — in theory. I’m hoping that one or several of those shows deals with Supergirl or Superman’s existence before March 28th.

All we need now is for the DCTV universe to find a way to work Constantine back into it in a regular role. His crossover brief appearance in Arrow earlier this season was spot on entertaining.
