Disney XD remains bullish on Star Wars Rebels and has renewed the Lucasfilm animated series for a third season that will premiere sometime in 2016. Production on Star Wars Rebels Season 3 is already underway.
A couple tidbits of information that steer clear of spoilers were dropped in the official Star Wars Rebels Season 3 renewed announcement. The direction of Season 3 will be shaped by a series of critical Season 2 events that have yet to air. In addition, new allies will join the Rebel cause while new adversaries will also emerge from the shadows.
To coincide with today’s big Star Wars Rebels news, Disney XD released a clip starring Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) from this Wednesday’s new episode title, ‘The Future of the Force.’ You can watch the clip below, and up above is a shot of Ahsoka from the episode wielding her new neutral-colored lightsabers signifying her defection from the Jedi Order.
Pay close attention to the clip’s dialogue and you’ll hear Ahsoka address her standing with the Jedi.
