The former Nickelodeon exclusive Star Trek: Prodigy animated series is bolding going where all new Star Trek series are: to the Paramount+ streaming service.
Today CBSViacom announced that Star Trek: Prodigy will premiere later this year on Paramount+, a re-brand of CBS All Access that takes effect March 4th. The premiere date for the first of 10 Season 1 episodes is sometime in the latter half of this year.
That doesn’t mean Nickelodeon is being permanently beamed away. Once Star Trek: Prodigy has played through all 10 episodes on Paramount+, the episodes will then air on Nickelodeon as they were originally intended.
A first look at the first Star Trek animated series core cast was also released. Surprisingly, and delightfully, there’s not a single human among the motley crew. There is however a robot and a curious looking alien blob.
It will likely be a while before the first Star Trek: Prodigy trailer arrives so speculate away as to how this crew will interface with an animated Admiral Janeway.
