Activision Blizzard Studios wasted little time ordering up a third season of Skylanders Academy despite the second season having yet to premiere. Production on Season 3 begins in earnest this month at TeamTO studio in France.
The Skylanders Academy Season 3 renewal announcement also provided some new details about Season 2. Felicia Day will voice new cadet Cynder, a popular dragon Skylander whose past is mysterious. She joins the core cast including Justin Long as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks as Eruptor and Norm Macdonald as Glumshanks.
Returning in Season 2 after brief Season 1 appearances are Cy the Imaginator (Daniel Middleton aka The Diamond Minecart) and Sensei King Pen (Daniel Wu).
Other voice talent confirmed for Season 2 includes Susan Sarandon, Parker Posey, James Hetfield, Catherine O’Hara, Bobcat Goldthwait, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jonny Rees, Harland Williams and Richard Horvitz as Kaos. Sorry, no sign of Patrick Warburton as Flynn.
“Response to the show has been incredibly enthusiastic, and we’ve taken a lot of creative inspiration from fans’ excitement. We have a lot of fun in store for season three and are thrilled to give audiences even more of the characters they love.” – studio Co-President Stacey Sher
Skylanders Academy Season 2 is expected to premiere this fall with Season 3 arriving sometime in 2018.
