The new Netflix animated series Trollhunters from Guillermo del Toro and starring the voices of the late Anton Yelchin as well as Kelsey Grammer and Lexi Medrano is receiving rave reviews from all corners of the web. Not content with a 93% approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes, Netflix is bringing out the big guns to drum up additional streaming eyeballs.
A new Trollhunters trailer has surfaced that has been re-cut with cards and the opening theme music from last summer’s Netflix breakout hit, Stranger Things. There are some similarities shared by each show’s structure that the trailer makes certain to point out.
Of course the mere mention of “stranger things” and “trailer” in the same sentence fooled some people hungry for the first Stranger Things Season 2 trailer. Alas that highly coveted premiere date is still unknown and likely won’t occur for several more months.
Trollhunters premiered on Netflix December 23rd with a dump of 26 Season 1 episodes, the most Netflix has ever delivered at one time for a new original series.
