Dustin, Mike and Lucas will have more to look forward to in Netflix’s Stranger Things Season 2 than the return of Will if the latest report from TVLine pans out to be accurate.
According to the site’s multiple sources, Millie Bobby Brown is all but confirmed to reprise her role as the genetically altered Eleven in the upcoming second season. To what extent she’ll appear and how much hair will grace her head will have to remain one of the show’s many outstanding mysteries until the first trailer or spy photo comes online.
Brown will join returning cast mates Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Noah Schnapp and Charlie Heaton. Schnapp (Will) and Kerry (Steve) have been upped to series regular status.
Stranger Things Season 2 is set roughly a year after the breakout hit’s first season with Netflix tacking on an additional ninth episode. The Upside Down alternate world will be further explored and the cast is expected to find themselves outside the confines of the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana they remained in during the first eight episodes. Every Stranger Things Season 2 episode title was revealed in the announcement trailer.
Eleven’s fate was left for interpretation when her character literally vanished during the heroic act of saving Hawkins and beyond from the dangerous Demogorgon beast. In a closing montage Sheriff Hopper was seen placing boxes of Eggo Waffles, Eleven’s favorite food, in the woods in a move that foreshadows the two will spend expended time with one another in the future.
Stranger Things Season 2 has already begun production and will premiere next summer, most likely in July 2017.
