SHIELD director Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) will get a helping hand from a mechanic in Season 2 with the addition of Henry Simmons to the cast, as announced by Marvel earlier today.
Simmons is set to play the role of Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie, a 30-something mechanic who aligns himself with Coulson’s SHIELD outfit. The character of Mackenzie is lifted from the NICK FURY VS. S.H.I.E.L.D. #3 comic book and will be making his live-action debut.
You may remember Simmons as playing Detective Baldwin Jones in NYPD Blue roughly two decades ago. He also played the role of Isaac Wright in Shark and more recently Simon Beaumont in Ravenswood.
The Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 2 cast list is starting to come together. Simmons joins newcomers Lucy Lawless as Agent Isabelle Hartley, Reed Diamond as Daniel Whitehall, and Nick Blood as Lance Hunter. More casting announcements are expected to trickle in over the coming weeks.
The core Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD cast featuring Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, Ming Na-Win as Agent May, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Brett Dalton as Grant Ward, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Simmons and Iain De Caestecker as Agent Fitz are all set to return.
The Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 2 premiere date is set for September 23, 2014.
