Lyndsy Fonseca Boards Marvel’s Agent Carter TV Series

Former Nikita agent Lyndsy Fonseca has been recruited by Marvel to finalize the cast for the upcoming Agent Carter TV series set to debut during the Agents of SHIELD winter hiatus. Though Fonseca’s resume, which also includes Kick-Ass, might indicate she’ll be kicking Hydra butt alongside Hayley Atwell, that assumption  couldn’t be further from the truth.

Instead, Fonseca will play an aspiring actress by the name  of Angie Martinelli. Like Peggy Carter, Martinelli is struggling to find her place as a woman in the post-war world of 1946, and she will befriend Carter as they lean on each other to overcome numerous obstacles.

Here’s Marvel’s official synopsis for Peggy Carter, based on a character that first appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger, in modern times in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and in the Season 2 premiere of Agents of SHIELD. She will also appear in next summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, most likely  in another flashback sequence.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter, starring Captain America’s Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life — Steve Rogers.”

Agent Carter will air on Tuesday nights in Agents of SHIELD’s time slot, though a precise premiere date has yet to be set.
