As winter comes, HBO has formally begun their marketing campaign for Season 6 of the hit series Game of Thrones. Consider the elephant out of the room as one of the show’s biggest mysteries appears to be immediately addressed.
The Game of Thrones Season 6 poster features the bastard Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), bloodied and possibly upright. When we last saw Snow he had been stabbed repeatedly by his own Night’s Watchmen for forming an alliance with their sworn enemies, the Wildlings.
Snow looked as dead as dead gets; however, Harrington was spotted headed to the Season 6 set on multiple occasions and was presumed to appear one way or the other in the upcoming season.
Though the poster suggests Jon Snow lives, it could also be a deliberate piece of misdirection. Season 6 could open with Jon Snow’s body being hauled off and then we don’t see him again for quite some time, if ever. A quick resurrection — if one is even in the cards — would feel cheap following the dramatic closing scene of Season 5.
Additional Game of Thrones Season 6 teases should trickle out over the next several weeks headed into New Years, followed by the first trailer sometime in January. The Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere date is expected to land on either April 3 or April 10, 2016.
