Carrie (Claire Danes) finds herself in a new position of power and without Brody at the forefront of her mind when Showtime’s award-winning drama Homeland enters its fourth season in October. A new Homeland Season 4 trailer offers a tease of what the new season holds when the action shifts from Carrie’s homeland to the tumultuous region in and around Afghanistan.
With Brody gone and Saul working in the private sector, Carrie’s future with Brody’s newborn child seems uncertain. The CIA has plans for arguably their best operative and order her back to the Middle East, to the same region where she was working when the series began.
Carrie’s return carries far more power than before as she has been appointed Station Chief in Afghanistan (substituted by South Africa). This gives her power to call the shots, including ordering drone strikes and raids. With power comes great responsibility and when things don’t go right, Carrie will learn that power comes with a price.
It’s unclear exactly how Saul fits into Carrie’s new life. He’s still working in intelligence so the logical assumption is that Carrie will call upon Saul at some point and pull him back in.
What is clear is that Peter Quinn (Rupert Quinn) will be joining Carrie on her overseas mission. Quinn carries a lot of emotional baggage on his shoulders so it will be interesting to see if working abroad for an extended period of time helps to clear his mind or drive him insane.
Homeland Season 4 premieres on Sunday, October 5 on Showtime with two back-to-back all-new episodes, a first for the series.
