HBO and BBC One’s His Dark Materials will get to wrap up its retelling of Phillip Pullman’s book series of the same name, also known as The Golden Compass in North America.
The studios have jointly renewed and third and final season shortly following the premiere of Season 2’s penultimate episode. It will conclude the series and Lyra’s journey to fulfill her destiny.
Production on the 8-episode third season will begin in 2021 in Cardiff. This is one more episode ordered than Season 2, which topped out at 7 episodes.
Expect a late 2021 or early 2020 premiere date for His Dark Materials Season 3.
His Dark Materials Season 2 will wrap up with its finale on Monday, December 28th at 9 pm ET/PT on HBO. All episodes of His Dark Materials are available to stream on HBO Max.
