WarnerMedia’s upcoming HBO Max streaming service was one of the most anticipated releases during the first half of 2020 before the worldwide pandemic hit. Now with quarantine’s still in full effect, folks are chomping at the bit for HBO Max’s imminent arrival.
The countdown is getting ready to dip under a month as WarnerMedia has confirmed a May 27th HBO Max release date and $14.99 a month price. Sure, we’d like it sooner, but I’d rather wait and make sure WarnerMedia is able to handle the rush.
At launch HBO Max will have approximately 10,000 hours of programming to binge through. Everything from The Wizard of Oz to Game of Thrones to The Dark Knight. It’s a splendid mixture of HBO, Turner Broadcasting and Warner Bros. that’s full of classics to revisit or experience for the first time.
What won’t be available at launch is the highly touted Friends Reunion Special. This was supposed to be the must-see launch series and it got delayed due to the Coronavirus. A release date is to-be-determined.

Also currently unknown is a price and whether there will be a 7-day free trial, similar to what Disney+ launched with last November. We should learn these details in the coming weeks.
HBO Max Originals at Launch
The following HBO Max original series will be ready to watch at launch. Many more are currently in the works including an animated Gremlins prequel.
Love Life, starring Anna Kendrick; Sundance 2020 Official Selection feature documentary On the Record; underground ballroom dance competition series Legendary; Craftopia, hosted by YouTube sensation LaurDIY; the all-new Looney Tunes Cartoons, from Warner Bros. Animation; and Sesame Workshop’s The Not Too Late Show with Elmo.
