Winter is coming in April this year as HBO has formally announced the Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere date as well as two other premieres that will piggyback off the enormous success GoT has and continues to enjoy.
The Game of Thrones Season 5 release date is set for Sunday, April 12 in its usual time slot at 9/8c on HBO. As with the previous four seasons, HBO has commissioned 10 all-new episodes of the hit fantasy series based on the ongoing A Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R.R. Martin.
Confirmed by HBO as series regulars in Season 5 of Games of Thrones are Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harington, Natalie Dormer, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner.
Following the Game of Thrones premiere on HBO at 10/9c and running 30 minutes is the second season of Silicon Valley. It will also span 10 episodes and stars Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Brener, Amanda Crew, Matt Ross and Jimmy O. Yan, with Ben Feldman, Chris Diamantopoulos and Alice Wetterlund guest-starring during the course of Season 2.
Capping the big April 12 night of HBO premieres is the fourth season of VEEP at 10:30/9:30c. The politically-charged series stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus along with Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy C. Simons, Sufe Bradshaw and Kevin Dunn.
Set those DVRs according for the Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere and also keep in mind that HBO is expected to launch their direct-to-consumer streaming service just ahead of April 12 so you can purchase and watch HBO online live streaming without a cable or satellite provider.
