The end of Game of Thrones on Sunday, May 19th does not mean the watch has ended for new content from the series. You won’t have to wait for the finals season home video debut later this year for an inside look at how HBO wrapped up the iconic series.
On Sunday, May 26th at 9 pm EST, or exactly a week after the Game of Thrones series finale airs, HBO will debut the two-hour documentary Game of Thrones: The Last Watch.
British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay spent an entire year embedded within the Game of Thrones final season production, shooting endless behind-the-scenes video on the sets in Northern Ireland.
As HBO explains the documentary, “Much more than a “making of” documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world – and then have to say goodbye to it.”
