This past week Netflix unleashed the final trailer for Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance prequel series with star Taron Egerton’s voice looming large.
The trailer is full of lush visuals, puppetry and animatronics in favor of a reliance on CGI. Yes, there will be some CGI use, but it will be the exception and not the norm.
As the series’ name implies, the Gelflings led by Deet, Rian and Brea will rise up against the Skeksis and form a resistance. This will happen after they learn about The Darkening, which appears to be the Skeksis discovering how to use the Crystal to achieve immortality for their own nefarious and selfish ways.
It’s hard to imagine Jim Henson not being proud of what his company, director Louis Leterrier, and a massive team of artists have created for this 10-episode run. With any luck we’ll get a second season announcement or at hints of some kind of continuation.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance arrives exclusively on Netflix beginning Friday, August 31st.
