Last week’s new episode of Chernobyl was one of the hardest to watch. Not because of radiation killing people, but people having to kill because of the radiation.
A trio of men were sent out into the evacuated zones to eliminate any domesticated animals that owners left behind. Scores of dogs were hunted and killed — thankfully mostly off-screen.
Even so, imagery of dog carcasses being tossed onto a truck and then dumped into a grave and buried in cement are hard to erase from one’s mind. The same can be said for much of what Chernobyl has delivered thus far.
Miniseries creator Craig Mazin has already promised that the death and hardest parts are behind us.
