After already pushing the Better Call Saul premiere date back several months from November 2014 to February 2015, AMC has finally locked in a precise premiere date with a couple unexpected bonuses to go along with it.
The Better Call Saul series premiere will take place on Sunday, February 8 at 10/9c. As expected the premiere comes after The Walking Dead Season 5 midseason premiere, meaning The Talking Dead will likely slide back an hour while AMC tries to grab as much of The Walking Dead’s massive audience for Better Call Saul’s bow as they possibly can.
We won’t have to wait too long for the second episode of Better Call Saul as AMC will be premiering it the very next night on Monday, February 9 in the same time slot. Subsequent episodes will also premiere on Mondays at 10/9c, so AMC is staking out a formidably one-two punch on Sunday and Monday nights with The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul, respectively.
AMC has also delivered a second Better Call Saul teaser trailer (here’s the first) that’s full of style and light on actual footage from the show. Despite no actual characters appearing the trailer, it sets one heck of a mood and makes me even hungrier for the first trailer with actual footage from the series premiere in it.
Better Call Saul is a prequel spin-off to Breaking Bad from Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. Set approximately six years prior to the Breaking Bad premiere, it stars Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill, an attorney at law who will one day change his name to Saul Goodman for reasons unknown and cross paths with Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. Jonathan Banks also reprises his Breaking Bad role, hit man Mike Ehrmantraut, as a series regular.
Season 1 of Better Call Saul spans 13 episodes, and AMC has already ordered an additional 13-episode second season in an extreme sign of bullishness for the concept and series.
