‘Batwoman’ Joins The Arrowverse This Fall: Watch the Teaser

The CW’s Arrowverse may be losing its namesake next season, but there will be new blood stepping in to fill the void.

On Tuesday, the network formally picked up Batwoman to series. The first season will begin airing this fall.

Batwoman stars Ruby Rose of Orange is the New Black fame as Kate Kane/Batwoman. Her introduction as the lesbian red-haired superhero patrolling a Bruce Wayne-less Gotham City came last fall during the Arrowverse crossover event, Elseworlds.

The Batwoman cast also includes Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane, Kate’s father and commander of a private security firm charged with keeping Gotham safe; Rachel Skarsten as Alice, leader of the Wonderland Gang with Joker qualities; Meagan Tandy as Sophie Moore, a military academy graduate; Camrus Johnson as Luke, Lucius Fox’s son; and Nicole Kang as Mary Hamilton, Kate’s step-sister.

The odds of Batwoman being picked up to series grew exponentially two months ago when The CW announced that the next season of Arrow, a truncated season of only 10 episodes, would bring the original Arrowverse series to a close.
