The CW has kept the upcoming new season of Arrow mostly in the dark over the summer. At Dragon Con they not only flipped the light switch but turned on the flood lights in debuting the first revealing Arrow Season 4 trailer.
The trailer starts more reminiscent of The Flash than Arrow as Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) settle into a new brightly lit suburban lifestyle. Back in Starling City — being renamed Star City in memory of Ray Palmer — Diggle, Thea and Laurel Lance are still battling the forces the evil.
It doesn’t take long for Oliver to be lured back into the darkness of Star City. Who can resist Felicity unveiling a shiny new suit? That’s not all as Diggle finally has a suit of his own completely devoid of spandex as Diggle has often said he wants no part of. Yes, the helmet conjures comparisons to Magneto, but I’m sure there’s a reason for its design, right?
There are a lot of goodies packed into this trailer if you pay attention. Constantine, set for a single-episode cameo, pops up for a second while talking on a phone. Damien Darhk, the new main villain for Season 4, appears often and seems surprised by the Arrow’s return from what he believes is the dead. Malcom i.e. the new Ras al Ghul and Talia al Ghul aren’t exactly getting along. New adversary Anarchy seemingly gets his name. Flashback Oliver finally dons a hood. And Sarah Lance rises from the Lazarus Pit for her destiny to join the DC’s Legends of Tomorrow spin-off series.
Arrow returns for its fourth season on Wednesday, October 7th at 8/7c.
