When we return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the Season 6 premiere, Fitz is stuck in stasis and lost somewhere in deep space. Jemma Simmons leads a rescue mission with Daisy, Piper and Davis to find her husband and return him home.
Back on Earth, the remainder of the team are shocked to see someone resembling Phil Coulson show up. Coulson died between the events of Seasons 5 and 6 after using the serum that could have saved him to give Daisy the power to defeat Talbot. He was last seen heading to Tahiti to spend his final days with Melinda May.

The Coulson who arrives isn’t Coulson at all. He’s an intergalactic world destroyer called Sarge and he’s got a nasty posse by his side.
With FitzSimmons literally lost in space, the Earth S.H.I.E.L.D.team will enlist a new brilliant mind to help them take on Sarge.
And yes, Deke Shaw is back and still learning about the new “green” world he finds himself living in. Though Deke is often around S.H.I.E.L.D. at the Lighthouse base, he’s not an official member of the team.
