In the Yellowstone Season 3 premiere, John reluctantly passed the torch as the Livestock Commissioner to his son, Jamie, while Beth found a trespasser from up the river fishing on their property.
Meanwhile a new corporate power, Market Equities, swooped in and quickly bought the Jenkins property with plans to overdevelop the heck out of it. That of course spells more trouble for the Dutton family and their ranch.
The most poignant revelation in the relatively quite season premiere was Monica telling John that he effectively is the Indian on the land now. Those words seemed to get to John even though he didn’t verbally respond.
The official synopsis for Yellowstone Season 3 Episode 2 reads, “Jamie starts a new job; Beth comes to a realization about Market Equities and visits Roarke; Rip searches for another ranch hand: A livestock agent goes too far.”
