FX’s American Horry Story: Season 2 cast continues to grow with familiar faces following announcements within the past couple days that Jessica Lange and Zachary would take on starring roles.
At PaleyFest on Friday, American Horry Story showrunners Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck announced that three more Season 1 vets from the show would be back for another go in all new roles. They are Evan Peters, Lily Rabe and Sarah Paulson, who previously played a ghost, haunted house owner and medium in Season 1, respectively.
According to Murphy at PaleyFest, each of the now five confirmed actors returning for Season 2 will be playing new characters that are the opposite of their roles in Season 1. It was further confirmed that vampires and werewolves are off-limits for the show, and there’s a chance that ghosts might not even factor into Season 2.
Apparently hints to the direction Season 2 will take can be found in the American Horror Story: Season 1 ‘Birth’ episode. During this episode, it was revealed that the haunted Los Angeles house the Harmon family moved into had a “paramagnetic grip” that fed off trauma to feed its negative energy.
American Horror Story will return to FX in October with all-new episodes set on the East Coast in a “horror institution,” rumored to be either a prison or an asylum given that the “paramagnetic grip” is often found in those locations. Jessica Lange’s new character will be the focal point of the show, with Zachary Quinto serving as a male co-lead.
