Xbox One Day One Sold Out at Amazon and Almost at GameStop

Xbox One Day One Sold Out at Amazon and Almost at GameStopGameStop sent their customers an email earlier today as notification that Xbox One Day One consoles are available for pre-order, though quantities are extremely limited. The note begins with “hurry!” and then gets straight to the point.

Earlier this week, online retailer Amazon.com removed their PS4 launch day bundle pre-orders and Xbox One Day One pre-orders after having sold through their allotments from Sony and Microsoft, respectively. The only next-gen console pre-orders available at Amazon at this time are for the standard Xbox One and standard PlayStation 4, neither of which are expected to be available to ship on launch day. They are, however, not tied to a bundle and don’t require buying any additional games or controllers to lock into.

While GameStop has numerous Xbox One bundles available with hot upcoming games like Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4, amongst others, they are also offering the Xbox One Day One edition as a standalone pre-order for $499.99. Buyers will not be billed until the console is processed for shipping.

The Xbox One Day One edition console comes with a couple exclusives that the standard edition does not. The Xbox One controller has a “Day One” emblem on it, and buyers will also receive an exclusive Achievement the first time they turn on the console.

Neither Sony nor Microsoft have revealed the release date for their PS4 and Xbox One consoles, respectively. There have been rumors that PS4 might arrive in early October, but history tells us that Sony is more likely to release PS4 in early-to-mid November with Xbox One arriving closer to Black Friday later on in the month.

Amazon.com is the only retailer whom has listed a November 27 release date for Xbox One. Microsoft has not confirmed or denied that date at this time.

Each passing day continues to dwindle the allotment of Xbox One and PS4s that retailers have to offer ahead of the console release dates. An Xbox One Day One edition pre-order at GameStop is highly recommended if you want one at launch. These are certain to sell out in the very near future if Amazon removing it from their site is any indication. I also expect the PS4 standard edition pre-orders to vanish from Amazon before too long as procrastinators who want one this holiday season begin to realize that waiting until launch day may be too late.
