Xbox 360 adds MLB, HBO Go and Other Acronyms

Chloe Moretz Offered Bloody Good Role in Stephen King's Carrie RemakeEarlier today, Microsoft added three new video apps to the ever-expanding Xbox 360 apps tab.

MLB.TV, a subscription based baseball service, is making its Xbox 360 debut after being a PS3 exclusive for the past two seasons. MLB.TV will allow the user to watch live (and completed) baseball games streamed via the Internet. The service gives the user the ability to watch up to two games at a time, in any combination of live and completed, via a split screen. MLB.TV requires an annual premium subscription.

Also unleashed today is the HBO Go app. HBO Go lets you watch the content from your current HBO subscription on your Xbox 360 console. Apparently, the cable box likely connected to the same TV as your Xbox 360 is insufficient for the task. The HBO Go app, already proven popular for computer and mobile use, is available just in time for this Sunday’s premiere of the second season of Game of Thrones.

Xfinity, the horribly named cable-providing service from Comcast Cable (yes, a cable company had to rebrand its own service, for no apparent reason other than historically insufficient customer service) is also available starting today as an Xbox 360 app.

Both HBO Go and Xfinity require additional subscriptions, in some cases, with each other, and all three apps require a paid Xbox Live Gold account.
