X06: ‘Marvel Universe Online’ Developer Named

At the X06 conference in Barcelona, Spain, Microsoft announced Cryptic Studios has been na named the developer for ‘Marvel Universe Online.’ This will be the first game Microsoft Game Studios publishes after recently securing the rights to Marvel’s Universe for MMORG games, and will be fully compatible with Windows Vista.

Fittingly enough, Cryptic Studios is best known for their recent ‘City of Heroes’ and ‘City of Villains’ games so they certainly have the track record and enough base code to turn ‘Marvel Universe Online’ into an instant hit. Comments made from the announcement are as follows:

“The vision behind the alliance of Microsoft Game Studios, Cryptic Studios and Marvel is to expand the MMO genre and create an epic gaming experience exclusively for Xbox 360 and Windows Vista gamers to experience together online,” said Frank Pape, senior director of business development, Microsoft Game Studios. “Cryptic Studios is widely respected for their established track record of innovation and understanding of the MMO space, and they are a perfect fit for the creation of the best possible experience in “Marvel Universe Online.””
