The long-awaited arrival of X-Men and X2: X-Men United on Blu-ray Disc has been confirmed for April by multiple retailers including DVDEmpire.com and Amazon.com.
My suspicion panned out to be true that Fox would use the theatrical release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine to release the first two X-Men films on Blu-ray Disc. The third X-Men Film, The Last Stand, has been available on Blu-ray for more than a year.
Like The Last Stand, X-Men and X2 will be two-disc special edition sets and be presented in widescreen 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
Neither title has been officially announced by Fox as of yet so we do not have cover art or bonus features to share. Those goodies will be published here once the seemingly imminent announcement is made.
In addition, Amazon.com has added a placeholder listing for the X-Men Trilogy on Blu-ray Disc. My best guess is this will be an Amazon exclusive bundle as the listing does not appear at other retailers. The answer should be revealed in the near future.
X-Men and X2 on Blu-ray will retail for $34.99.
