The Hollywood Reporter is stating William Hurt has come on board Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood project.
Hurt, who recently took on Marvel’s The Hulk as General Ross, joins Russell Crowe playing Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham, and Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian. Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle are already signed to become the Merry Men, with Durand filling Little John’s shoes.
Hurt will get to suit up in armor and have some fun playing William Marshall, the Earl of Pembroke. The Earl was considered one of the most powerful men in Europe at the time and also one of the best jousters.
Filming is now underway on Robin Hood in the UK. With any luck some set pics will surface soon.
