Fox Searchlight Pictures has been so pleased with the response to Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut Whip It with Ellen Page at the Toronto Film Festival that they are running advance screenings for the public this Saturday, September 26. The wide release date for Whip It is Friday, October 2.
The screenings will take place between 7pm and 11:55pm at select theaters throughout the country. Free Whip It t-shirts will be handed out at every location.
Fox ran a similar early screening promotion around Father’s Day for Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs earlier this year. It went on to earn $195 million that started with positive buzz from kids stemming from those screenings.
