HBO’s True Blood panel at Comic-Con brought out the show’s stars to talk about the series, and it also delivered a new trailer that covers several new episodes that will debut in the weeks ahead.
Executive producer Brian Buckner revealed during the Comic-Con panel that this season of True Blood will ultimately return the show to its roots. That means the number of storylines will be condensed and the bulk of the narrative will shift back to Bon Temps rather than be spread across what seems like the entire state of Louisiana.
The trailer doesn’t necessarily reflect this shift in direction as there are still many, many loose ends and stories to tie up. It begins with Sookie (Anna Paquin) speaking at a funeral, a scene that plays into rumors that a major character will be departing the show this season. The consensus is that it is Eric (Alexander Skarsgard), but I am of the opinion that Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) will be the one who is checking out. His death would have major implications for Sookie’s already fragile state of mind moving forward.
Wild sex romps, which were numerous in the last episode, will also continue as Sam (Sam Trammell) and Nicole (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) have a future date in a shower. The pair are still on the run from Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and the werewolves, and it seems like a hunt that can’t last forever. One side will have to win out.
Some of the best action this season has to offer takes place in the vampire camp, a place Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) looks to be playing a visit in the future. Already Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten), Tara (Rutina Wesley), Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian), Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire), Nora (Lucy Griffiths) and Eric are being held there. If Warlow (Rob Kazinsky) makes his way there then it will be a proper vampire party.
True Blood: Season 6 runs an abbreviated 10 episodes so we’re already well on the way to the season finale. Watch the Comic-Con “In the Weeks Ahead” trailer below.
