Last night Dexter returned to Showtime for its seventh season and likewise returned to the strong form from its earlier seasons. If you thought the Season 6 finale was a big moment then wait until you see how the Season 7 premiere ‘Are You…?’ wrapped up last night.
One of the best aspects of the premiere is how the characters remained true to their personalities. Dexter, in a world of problems after he was caught by Deb sinking his knife into the Doomsday killer, turned to his dark passenger to help him regain focus. He made a mistake but quickly gets back on the horse to execute a near public kill with ease.
Deb, on the other hand, has always had a nose to uncover the truth. She has always felt something was off about Dexter and seeing Travis wrapped to the table with a knife in his heart brought back a lot of unpleasant memories. Deb doesn’t rest until she gets what she wants, so it would have been foolish for her to dismiss the alarm bells going off in her head. She questions the inconsistencies with Dexter’s explanations the same way we do.
It will be interesting to see the Dexter: Season 7 ratings a little later this morning. This is the season fans have been waiting for since the Season 4 finale. After only one episode it does not disappoint.
