Watch Mark Zuckerberg Appear on Saturday Night Live

The rumored appearance of Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg on Saturday Night Live last night became reality in a brief but awkward meeting between an actor and the man he portrayed.

During the show’s opening monologue, Andy Samberg came on stage to compare notes with Jesse Eisenberg, the young actor who played Zuckerberg in David Fincher’s The Social Network, about how each perfected the way they play Zuckerberg. Samberg has portrayed the Facebook CEO on SNL before.

Meanwhile backstage, the real Zuckerberg was seen pleading with producer Lorne Michaels to go on stage. “Why can’t I go in there? I’m the real Mark Zuckerberg,” he pleaded with line delivery that proves he better stick to his day job. “Those guys are such nerds. Come on, I invented poking.”

When Zuckerberg came on stage, Samberg quickly left leaving Eisenberg and the man he portrayed together. Having never met before, they exchanged brief pleasantries before Zuckerberg answered Eisenberg’s question about whether he liked The Social Network or not with “it was interesting.” And that was it.

Zuckerberg, Samberg and Eisenberg likely had some good times and conversation backstage, none of which we’ll ever be privy to.
