Update: The original Dexter: Season 8 premiere free online stream below that came from Showtime’s website has been replaced with a larger and clearer YouTube version that the pay channel released earlier today.
Dexter is back and six months have passed since he put his sister Deb in the awful position of having to choose between her career and her brother. She ultimately chose the former to kick start the events of the Dexter: Season 8 premiere episode, ‘A Beautiful Day.’
There will be a lot of subplots in play during the eighth season of Dexter, but ultimately it appears the show will boil down to how Dexter deals with Deb’s mental breakdown following the murder of Lieutenant Maria LaGuerta, and whether he is able to shed the “dark passenger” that his deceased father continually reminds him cannot be destroyed. I would expect the final 12 episodes to reach some dark places before the final resolution – whatever that may be – comes to light.
Tonight’s new episode of Dexter came less than seven months after the Season 7 finale. Showtime chose to move up the final season of their flagship show to help launch Ray Donovan as Homeland had already solidified itself as a hit in the fall.
Showtime has edited down the Dexter: Season 8 finale to make it a little more family friendly, and is offering the episode available to watch via online streaming below. It isn’t live and is missing some choice words, but the gesture by Showtime to make it available for all to see, even non-Showtime subscribers, is most appreciated.
