Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez are set to take each other on in “The One Fight” boxing match that will crown the winner the Welterweight World Champion. Massive hype has surrounded this fight since it was first announced, and it’s expected to break pay-per-view records before all is said and done. Watch boxing online live streaming instructions, the start time and what pay-per-view channel to find the fight on are below.
Mayweather enters tonight’s bout with a perfect 44-0 record and moves in the ring whose speed are only matched by his running mouth outside the ring. Much of Mayweather’s success has come from his ability to make opponents miss, wear them down, and them pummel them into submission. He clocked in at a weight of 150 1/2 pounds at Friday’s official weigh-in, right where he wants to be.
Mexican fighter Canelo was born 13 years after Mayweather yet still boasts an impressive 42-0-1 record. His fighting style contrasts Mayweather; rather than dance around, he takes a slow and methodical approach that uses an incredibly hard punch to knock his opponents out. He weighed in at 152 pounds despite his trainers wanting him to take his weight even lower.
The big question for tonight’s fight is whether Canelo will be able to connect against the speedy Mayweather. If he can’t, some predict the fight could be over by the second round as Canelo wouldn’t have a chance against the more experienced and faster opponent.
At the same time, Canelo is much younger than Mayweather and Mayweather’s more recent opponents have been nowhere near as strong and powerful, nor as young. How will Mayweather react if Canelo manages to land a series of direct blows? The same way the fight could be over quickly if Canelo can’t connect with Mayweather, it could end just as easily if Canelo can connect and Mayweather can’t weather the storm.
Not to be overlooked is the Super Lightweight undercard that frankly could be as entertaining — if not more so — than the main event. In one corner is Danny Garcia and his perfect 26-0 record. Garcia was in attendance of one of his opponent’s recent knockouts and looked shocked by how quickly and violently it transpired.
In the other is the man whose knockouts are becoming legendary, Lucas Matthysse. His 34-2 record includes 32 by knockout, with the last two being incredibly impressive. Matthysse is already talking about taking on Mayweather next, though he may want to keep the eye on his immediate opponent before looking down the road.
My predictions for tonight are going to be Mayweather over Canelo and Matthysse over Garcia. I am also thinking that each fight is going to be highly entertaining and reach at least four rounds a piece.
