FX’s American Horror Story: Coven thrust its plot literally to a head last week as a box delivered to Fiona and Cordelia held a ghoulish surprise. War is now on between the witches and the voodoo priestesses as AHS: Coven starts to ramp up toward its end game and what’s sure to be a whole bunch of additional dead bodies and a new Supreme. Last week’s episode began with Queenie putting her turn to the dark side on display by killing a homeless man in a random industrial building. She’s now essentially the property of Marie Laveau, and even though Zoe and Madison show up to try to talk their friend back into the Coven, Queenie will have none of it and reminds her former friends that they will lose the imminent war.
Fiona is still dying from cancer and sharing her latter years in bed with the Axeman. She is also convinced that someone in the Coven is accellerating the cancer by naturally becoming the Supreme. Fiona will have none of this and aims to take out whoever this is, and wants the Axeman to help her do it. There’s maybe a happy future for the murderous couple if they can pull it off and stop the cancer. Good luck with that.
Cordelia still wants to offer her mom and discusses a plan of action with Zoe, Nan and the gals when the doorbell rings and Misty shows up looking for shelter. Through flashback we learn that a resurrected Myrtle helps Misty escape death from a gunman and now Misty needs the protection of the Coven for not only herself but Myrtle as well. When the group goes to where Myrtle is hiding, Myrtle reveals that Misty should become the next Supreme.
‘The Sacred Taking,’ the name of last week’s episode, is revealed to be a ceremony that helps choose the next Supreme. The ceremony will kill the current Supreme, Fiona, with the catch being that Fiona will need to cooperate in order for everything to go down correctly. Fiona, meanwhile, is visited by Myrtle and Madison, two people she thought dead, and realizes it’s her time to go; that is until dead Spalding tells them what the girls are really up to.
After an evening in which the police are called and Jesus and his mother are killed by the gunman, Fiona and Cordelia end up discussing their plans to kill each other over breakfast. The doorbell ends up ringing and a package is delivered, and inside the package is the still moving head of none other than Delphine. It, being the war, is definitely on.
