Bridesmaids is the first potential breakout hit of this summer box office season. It’s already assumed Fast Five, Thor and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides will bring in big bucks at the box office. Bridesmaids isn’t as sure a bet, but the potential for big returns grows stronger by the day.
Like The Hangover before it, Bridesmaids takes a hard R-rated angle at “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas,” but swaps out the predominantly core male cast for one comprised almost entirely of females. Saturday Night Live’s Kristen Wiig headlines the cast including Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy and Chris O’Dowd. Early word is these ladies are guaranteed to make you laugh.
