Warner Brothers Announces September 5 Catalog Blu-ray Disc Wave 2 Titles

Warner Brothers Home Entertainment has announced their second wave of Blu-ray Disc titles comprised entirely of catalog entries already available on HD-DVD. On September 5, you can look for ‘Blazing Saddles,’ ‘Full Metal Jacket,’ ‘Firewall’ and ‘Lethal Weapon,’ all carrying an MSRP of $28.99 except for ‘Firewall, which is five bucks more at $34.99.

‘Blazing Saddles’ will be presented in widescreen 2.4:1 1080p video with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. No mono track will be included. Extras mirror those found on the HD-DVD and are comprised of additional scenes, “Back in the Saddle” documentary, “Intimate Portrait: Madeline Kahn” documentary, “Black Bart:” 1975 pilot episode of the proposed TV series spin-off, and the theatrical trailer.

The remaining three titles all specify English 5.1 audio but also carry the Dolby Digital logo on the case. We’ve got an inquiry into Warner Brothers for clarification.

Of the remaining three titles, ‘Lethal Weapon’ appears to be either special features-less or there’s a misprint on the back cover art. ‘Firewall’ includes “Conversation with Harrison Ford and Director Richard Loncraine,” “Firewall: Writing a Thriller” featurette, and the theatrical trailer. ‘Full Metal Jacket’ includes the theatrical trailer.

If the pattern of releasing new catalog Blu-ray Disc titles holds true, the third wave should be available sometime in early October. Until then, we’ll keep our fingers crossed some new “killer app” titles find their way into our grubby little hands before we run out of patience.

In the meantime, click through the disc details below for high resolution looks at the front and back cover art for each title. Also, we’ve updated our DVD On Tap section with the confirmed release dates.
